A little bit of Spring in my house

Although here in the Netherlands the weather has been anything but wintery, I begin to long for Spring. Last week I went to the garden center and bought a few things to bring me into a Spring mood.
First of all these things, in Dutch they are called Wilgenkatjes, I have no idea what that is in English (and I cannot find a translation I trust)
They look great in a glass jar in the window sill.

Secondly I bough some of these lovely Spring flowers, Grape hyacinths. They are so cute and although they are small, they brighten up my room.

And for my dining table I bought three similar creme pots with three herbs. Melissa, Thyme and Sage. It looks amazing and it smells great as well.

  1. Very spring-y photos :) It's been warm here in Helsinki too in the past weeks and I hope most of the winter is over, that would be a nice compensation to the last year, when it seemed to last forever...

    1. Thanks, Riv. Here it has not been cold yet, but last year we had some weeks with loads of snow and ice and coldness. I do not mind cold, I do mind snow!
      Let's hope for Spring.

      Kind regards,

  2. It's always nice to brighten up your household, isn't it? Particularly with winter coming to a close. I like the plant shown in the first picture, it's quite unique.

    1. Thank you, Jade, making a few changes every now and then is always a good idea, I think.
The first picture is not really a plant, they are branches from a willow. I cannot find the English name in my dictionary and Google translate (hate that thing!) says: Willow catkins, but I do not know if that is correct or just nonsense :-D

      Kind regards,

  3. We call them pussy willow. So, you were close. Beautiful thoughts of spring. Winter seems relentless this year in the US!

    1. Pussy willow, that is a very cute name, and very similar to the Dutch Wilgenkatjes (katjes are little cats, wilgen are willows)
I hope Spring will come to the US fast, after a while the relentless Winter gets a bit depressing, I always find.

      Thank you for your comment.
      Kind regards,
