In Dutch, this plant is called Berenklauw, or Bears claw. A much nicer name than Hogweed, I think! We have a lot of them in my province and in the city I live in and they are actually considered a pest, since they overgrow all other plants and it is not an original plant for this area.
I do like them, and I think they are excellent on photographs!
Your photos are always great! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That means a lot to me.
DeleteKind regards,
Some pesty weeds are the best!
ReplyDeleteYes, definately!
DeleteKind regards,
As long as it's regular hogweed / Bärenklau, I agree with you. However... the plant commonly called 'giant hogweed' (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is a different thing as it's highly toxic and causes severe phytophotodermatitis. It's an invasive species in our part of the world (apparently it was introduced as an 'ornamental plant'!!!), and since it's so dangerous / poisonous, I do understand the concern. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteAll true, but my point is that they look amazing. And I do not roll around in them! :-)
DeleteKind regards,
Good for you :-) And I agree, they do look great.
DeleteAnd you are right, they overgrow everything and are considered a huge problem. But I cannot help but like them, since they are so pretty!
