This work was made by the Dutch artist Armando. He was born in 1929 as Herman, but later changed his name legally into Armando, the Italian version of that name.
He was a painter and a sculptor, but he also made music (played the violin in the gypsy orchestra Tata Mirando) and he wrote poetry and novels.
I saw this work last week in a museum I visited for another exhibition, but I liked it immediately. Sometimes a painting catches your eye immediately and you are drawn to it, you do not even see the other artworks in the room (what other artworks?).
I have seen other work by him in several museums and I am a fan of his art. So I was very happy to see this work, and a couple of others, quite by surprise.
