Henk Helmantel is a Dutch painter, born in 1945 in the province of Groningen. In 1961-1964 he attended the art academy in Groningen.
He is nowadays on the most well knows painters of stil-lifes, so realistic you almost think you could pick the items from the canvas. He also paints church interiors that make you hold your breath, so beautiful and with such devout light. He truely is a master at his art. With his work he wants to make you look and he wants to show the beauty of Creation.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw his work in the Drents museum in Assen and I fell in love with it. Here are a few examples of his paintings.
