Exhibition Kees van Dongen (1877-1968)

Kees van Dongen was a very important Dutch painter in the first half of the 20th century. He was born in Rotterdam, but in 1897 he went to Paris, because of course all artists wanted to be there!

He began using more colours and his paintings met with good critiques. He was friends with other artists like Picasso or Matisse, but also was an inspiration for the Dutch artists who still lived in The Netherlands.

I recently saw and exhibition in the Singer museum in Laren about Kees van Dongen and I loved the diversity of his work. Here are a few examples.
