What did I do these past weeks?

The past weeks were very hectic for me, school was so busy, it was hard to keep track on other things and I feel things are piling up and I am behind with most things. But luckily the Christmas vacation is coming near (not a moment too soon!)

Books
I did manage to read a couple of books, mostly non-fiction. I read a book about Wolves and I read the book about the ravens in the Tower of London. I will write more about this next week. I also read a historybook about Paris and I read a Dutch book about WWII which was very interesting.

I read the newest book by Paolo Giordano, which has not been translated into English and I read an amazing historical novel about beguines in Paris in 1310 by French author Aline Kiner. It was very good, but also there is no English translation of this book, so I won't be able to review it here in a seperate post.
Beautiful Dutch cover of the French novel The night of the beguines
Television
In the evening I usually watch one or two episodes of Grey's anatomy. I love this series. I am halfway season 13 now and I like how characters develop. I like for example how Alex Karev has grown and I also see that Meredith is not the same person as she was in season 1. Love to see their friendship as well!

I also really miss Christina, I did not like here in the first season, but I began to admire her more and more and I love how her character changed. Sandra Oh is a great actress.
I do not miss Derek the way I thought I would, and I absolutely dislike Amelia.
Film
I went to the movies and saw Bohemian Rhapsody. I am a huge Queen fan (have been since I was 9) and I loved the movie. The music was great, Rami Malek was amazing as Freddie Mercury and although the facts are not always correct, it was an amazing film. I was in tears at the end and most of  the other people in the audience with me.

I am looking forward to the Christmas vacation (not really to Christmas), and I hope I will be able to get some rest and recharge my energy!

  1. The Kiner book may be too new to have been translated so far - I think it only came out in 2017, so there's hope there'll be an English and / or German version fairly soon, too. It does sound very intriguing, so I hope it will come out over here eventually!

  2. Enjoy your Christmas break! I hope you get a lot of days off to just read and relax and recharge your batteries. :D
    (P.S. I don't like Amelia from Grey's Anatomy either!)

    1. Good to know I am not the only one who disliked Amelia!! :-) I also think season 13 is not the best season, it just drags on. Anyway, thanks for your kind words!!

      Kind regards,
