I love the paintings by Italian artist Giorgio Morandi. He mostly painted still-lives and used a lot of the same cups and bowls. There is something really peaceful about his work. I met his work when I was in Bologna, (the town where he lived all his life), and I have loved his work ever since.
Last week I was at an exhibition with a friend and we saw this painting, by Morandi. It is not the most typical of his work, I think (I am not an expert of course), it is a bit vaguer than usual. But it is still undeniably a Morandi and I scared the other visitors by making a little dancing jump when I saw it.
I did not know he would be in the collection, so that was an amazing surprise.
