Inspirational art: Carel Willink

Carel Willink was a Dutch painter who lived from 1900-1983. He was know for his hyper realistic paintings, like the one you see here. Here you see himself, and his wife, Wilma. It was painted in 1957.

I do not know if it is visible here, but when you are in front of it, you can see the different textures of their clothes. 

Knowing Wilma was very ill at this moment is perhaps shown in the dark clouds and the sombre atmosphere. 

I saw this painting in the Singer museum in Laren.
