Wrapping up 2018

It is time to look back at 2018 and see what was the best of this year.

Blog
Lets look at the blog first.
I took a month off during the Summer and this really worked very well for me. I do think I will take a Summer-break again if I feel like it. (or a Winterbreak or something like that). I recently changed the blogdesign, and I am so happy with that!

But looking back at last year, what were the most read articles?

Best book review
The book review that was most read was: All the beautiful girls by Elizabeth J Church HERE

Best exhibition review
Most like exhibition was the one with works from Giorgio Morandi. I never thought I would see his works outside Bologna, but suddenly it could be seen in Frisia.  HERE

Best Travel article
My photographs from Porto was something a lot of people liked. HERE

Best personal article
I was so sad when I lost my lovely little Silvia, the cat who shared my life for the past 11 years, but people responded so kindly, thank you all! HERE

Travel
I was so lucky to be able to spend so much time in various amazing cities. If I have to make a choice, I would say that Napels in May was the best, since it was completely new for me and I loved it so much. I will definately come back here.
Plans for 2019? Yes of course I have plans, but nothing definate yet. I will keep you updated though.

Books
I read over 150 books this year and most of them were very good. A few I did not finish since I did not like them, but on the whole it was a good reading year.
My favorite book (not translated into English) is Le quatrieme mur (the fourth wall) by Sorj Chalendon, a book about the civil war in Lebanon. I had a Dutch translation of this book.

My second best book was a Russian classic, Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. I think the more I read this book, the better I like it. It is beautiful and you begin to love Joeri and Lara.

My best non-fiction read of this year was The race to save the Romanovs by Helen Rappaport. She wrote about the Russian Revolution and if it had been possible to save the Imperial Family. Very well written and very interesting.

Other things
I loved the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. I saw it in the cinema and I was laughing and crying and completely wrapped up in the story. Queen rules and so does Freddie Mercury!

And on dvd I liked Grey's anatomy. I watched all 14 seasons and yes, I am a fan! (season 4 and 13 are not that good, though, I do not like Amelia Shephard and I begin to dislike Bailey, which I never thought I would say). But on the whole: amazing!
